"REGGAE RADIO" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, February 22 2009 - In this time of Podcasting and Webcasting, we are at the brink of forgetting the times before the Internet.

People in Jamaica were among the first to be blessed with their own Reggae Radio program. The very first one, Dread at the Control, was hosted by Michael Campbell, aka Mikey Dread.

Unfortunately, the brethren has recently passed away but history can never change just what he did for the promotion of Reggae Music.

Reggae Music had to struggle very hard, not just in the world, but in Jamaica to begin with. It wasn't so, that everybody in Jamaica was happy with the Freedom Sounds.

Mikey Dread was one of the biggest warriors to get Reggae Music accepted in Jamaica during the 1970's.

We will never forget him.

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

The above column is the personal opinnion of the Webmaster and does not neccesarily reflect the contents of the Dubroom Website and/or Message Boards and/or Weblogs.
