WWW, November 24 2008 - When I joined the "Christian Reggae Scene", it didn't take me long to find out it was basically a spiritual brothel where spiritual fornication of a specific kind was not only committed, but even cultivated.

The result of that cultivation is a thing we can see today in the form a "Gospel Reggae Industry" where "Gospel Dancehall" vocalists sing tunes how Jesus is going to give them bling-bling and conscious Rastas are being ridiculed as "paranoid conspiracy theorists".

Of course, I see very clearly just why I received that invitation, almost a decade ago, to join that group of spiritual fornicators.

But I didn't see it then...

WWW, November 2008 - Just like Dancehall, DUB definitely takes it's own way inside and outside of Reggae Music. In Pra Frentex we Step It Up on that One Way Street called DUB and let the Drum and Bass take use to Heigher Heights.

Here in the Dubroom, we often have seen the influence of DUB in what can loosely be called contemporary Digital Dance Music. Styles like House and Techno would not have been there, or would have sounded quite different.

We also see on a regular basis just what DUB as a discipline in itself is capable of. Instead of just serving as a source of inspiration for such highly popular styles in Dance Music, DUB is also continuing to develop into ever Heigher Heights.

Often crossing the realms of Reggae, too.

Or expanding them, if you will.

For DUB and Reggae are connected, arguably more than Dancehall. If only for the simple reason that the best music to create DUB with is still Reggae Music.

Just how DUB is developing, crossing or expanding the borders of Reggae, can be heard in Pra Frentex.

We hear music that represents a form of DUB which is played at parties where you can hear Techno and House in other rooms or halls. Music that still is Reggae, but definitely seeks the limits at times.

WWW, November 23 2008 - Just how did I commit spiritual fornication with Mystery Babylon by joining the "Christian Reggae Scene"?

For that, we have to take a look at "physical fornication". After all, Babylon is presented to us in a physical symbol.

When a man and a woman have intercourse, they "mix", they "become one flesh". And when that man and that woman are not each other's partners, they become one flesh where they should not do that.

Ergo: fornication is -in a way- just another word for "mixing that which should not be mixed".

Mixing that which should not be mixed, or "con-fusion": it's marking the identity nature and personality of Mystery Babylon.

For Babylon means: "con-fusion", "mix-up"... fornication!

As we step from one crucial DUB into the next, the Mighty Horns are everywhere without taking us into a vibe where only those that "also like jazz" would love to stay throughout the entire length of this podcast.

Don't worry, though.

Unless you really don't like DUB.

But then, you wouldn't be here reading this.

So, let's step into this tribute of the Mighty Horns as we go from crucial and deep UK DUB into the next. Many Zion Train projects are present, like the Tassili Players and Love Grocer. As we see pictures of the many wicked things Babylon does to the people of the world, a smooth and groovy music plays and the singer tells us all about the Mystery.

When the four minutes are over, you know one thing: you don't wanna be The Richest Man In Babylon.

Musically, the clip is just as interesting as the topic. We hear a melodic form of toasting, we hear a drum and bass beat that is not Reggae but still does give a Reggae vibe, or to be more precise: a DUB vibe.

WWW, November 22 2008 - When I accepted the invitation to join the "Christian Reggae Scene", I committed the sin of spiritual fornication with the Mystery.

I am ashamed over it: don't think it is easy to write this knowing that others will read it.

However, I have also learned a lot of mechanisms as I discovered just why Mystery Babylon is called the Mother of all Harlots (prostitutes), and just how this spiritual fornication takes place.

Even further: out of fornication can come a "child". In the case of Mystery Babylon, we speak about her "children" as "abominations".

So instead of beating myself on the head and feeling shame, I will use my own sin as an example of this spiritual fornication.

WWW, November 2008 - What would Reggae, what would DUB be without the female touch of our Sistren? Fortunately, we'll never know.

Therefore: a Tribute to the Sistren!

The title of this mix is a bit deceptive. Why? Well, simply. This is not a Stricktly DUB Show. A tune can be DUB, but not Reggae. And a tune can be Reggae, but not DUB. Sure, you guessed it: this show has it all.

However, this Tribute to the "Dub Girls" does give a very good picture just what the female touch does in Reggae, and DUB. Tanya Stephen's "Pity", for example, is quite different than the opening track.

Let's take a closer look.

We go from DUB Fusion, Sub DUB to Reggae DUB, to Roots Reggae, to Dancehall. From a poem to a little slack slap, from some Righteous Lyrics to one of the best Bass players in UK DUB, who happens to be a Sistren too as part of Alpha and Omega.

Indeed.

WWW, November 2008 - The UK has been a major outlet and breeding place for Reggae Music. Patterned after Bob Marley's success, the 1970's gave birth to countless of UK based Reggae bands and Aswad was one of them.

The "Old Grey Whistle Test" was the name of a television program in the UK, where bands and artists performed live for a studio audience.

At least, most of the time.

In this case, it definitely was a live performance. We see Aswad as a full blown band performing somewhere in the early 1980's. An impressive performance, allready showing the group to be here-to-stay.
