"HOW CAN IT BE?" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, September 25 2007 - Take into consideration, that Jamaica is an island. Take into consideration, that this island is not on the list of richest countries in the world.

Take into consideration, that the richest countries usually decide for the rest of the world what to hear, what to believe, what to like and what not to like.

And fair enough, there's "Reggae Millionaires" but not much. And right from the start, the music attracts pure hearts and worshippers of Jah throughout the whole planet.

How can it be, the Reggae Music got so popular still?

Give Thanks, One Love,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

HOUSE OF REGGAE #7
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, September 2007 - Starting with a musical reasoning by Tony Rebel, the seventh episode of Ian's House of Reggae takes us straight to the heart of Reggae in another hour of Reggae-Iducation.

Ian's House of Reggae definitely adds something to the growing number of good broadcasters in the Podosphere. He does his research, like to add information and sometimes center his shows around a certain theme.

In this beginning of this episode, our host looks into the more spiritual side of Reggae Music. Tony Rebel shares a reasoning, Johnny Clarke sings truths and rights while Owen Gray performs an old classic spiritual.

He also looks back into the 1950's in an honoring of Jamaica mento legend Alerth Bedasse as he plays what was then deemed a very hostile tune by the Jamaican parliament.

Among many other tunes and descriptions, that is...

BROADCASTER'S COMMENTS:The House of Reggae welcomes you back for another 60 minutes of fine Jamaican music and in this show we start off with some thought provoking reasoning from Tony Rebel and also include another rare white label 7", a tribute to Jamaican mento legend Alerth Bedasse who passed away last month and more great tunes spanning the last 50 years than you can shake a stick (or should that be a rod) at......

U ROY AND SOUL SYNDICATE LIVE IN USA 1988
Dubroom (DUB) Reggae Video Review

WWW, September 2007 - The year is 1988 and the Godfather of Reggae DJ-ing U Roy teams up with one of the original Rockers Studio Bands of Jamaica to play a wonderful performance of their music before an audience

Because of Reggae Culture's nature, "any" vocalist can play with "any" band, at least when they know how to play or ride a riddim, as tracks are called in this Culture. So it's not unusual to see "unusual" combinations, such as U Roy and the Soul Syndicate.

Originally, the music played by the Soul Syndicate was recorded into the multitrack recorders of a Jamaican Reggae Studio. U Roy's voice usually was heard either on record or on top of a record in a live performance of King Tubby's Hi-Fi Sound system.

The year is 1988, and both U Roy as well as the band are already veterans in Reggae Music. Crucial stuff, therefore. Enjoy!
