MYSTERY BABYLON (190)

Dubroom Online - November 30, 2008

"MYSTERY BABYLON (190)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 30 2008 - When I discovered the real -spiritual- nature of the "Christian Reggae Scene", I was at a point wherein I knew myself to be in Babylon.
I knew, that I had to treat that "Scene" as Babylon.

I knew, I had to Step Out.

However, that wasn't so easy.

Throughout the time, I had been mixing and basically -spiritually- fornicating with people who I should not -spiritually- mix with.

Even though you could argue that I did it for the right reasons, well, you can do the wrong out of right reasons.

Still don't make it right.

More Tomorrow...

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

When LKJ entered the scene, the music that came with his poetry was deep, and hard. DUB effects and everything was there. In fact, it was LKJ's "Five Nights Of Bleeding" that got yours truly hooked on Reggae, somewhere in the early 1980's.

In 1992, the vibe had totally changed. Dennis Bovell, the musical genius behind LKJ, had taken himself and his musicians to higher grounds and they started to experiment with other styles, which they integrated with Reggae.

The result could be an upfull, ska-ish track with Africa style guitar licks.

Like "Di Good Life".
