MYSTERY BABYLON (164)

Dubroom Online - November 4, 2008

"MYSTERY BABYLON (164)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 4 2008 - How can someone go so far, to really believe that "Jesus Christ" wants to people to believe that a racist Shitstem which stole millions of people from Afrika is really "Give by God"?

Even further, how can someone go so far to try and fight down those who are exposing this Shitstem for what she really is?

In other words, just what kind of mechanism does Mystery Babylon use to trick people into spiritually fornicating with her?

Could it be, that the very same mechanisms that make people carry racist ideas in the name of Jesus Christ can also be applied to us all?

More Tomorrow...

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

Stricktly, and stricktly DUB. Jamaican DUB, especially. From around the late 1970's, early 1980's, to be more precise. This Podcast has some crucial selections, take for example the Dub to Culture and Prince Fari's "Message To The King".

The music is solid as a Rock, with exceptionally massive bass and drum lines skillfully compiled by someone who knows Reggae Music.

Enjoy the Ride!

DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, November 2008 - In this historical recording, the two UK Reggae Radio pioneers meet each other in a DUB PLATE Clash. When you don't know what that is, read on. And when you do, you're allready downloading.

The year is 1985. It was the year wherein the World Wide Reggae Massive was introduced to a brand new sound: the Sleng-Teng riddim. It was Jammy's who came up with the first "Computerized Reggae" as Digital Reggae was called for a while after that.

It was also the year in which two DJ's clashed. Two DJ's who made their name by pioneering Reggae Radio meet in a so-called DUB PLATE CLASH.

A DUB Plate is a mix created especially for Sound Systems and DJ's. Singers and MC's voice over (well known) riddims, often bigging up the Sound in a variation of a well known lyric.

When two DJ's clash, they usually better have to bring a whole lot of DUB Plates. In the case of a DUB PLATE CLASH, they better have to bring all that they have and it better be enough.

In this historical recording, we go back to the year of Sleng-Teng. Live on Jamaican and UK Radio, two DJ's clash and they both have a name to defend.

As they play one DUB Plate after the other, the necessary humor is applied. One Sleng-Teng plate after the other must reveal how well-connected they are as the hottest singers and toasters of the day big up Barry G or David Rodigan.

Not that it's all about Sleng-Teng, though.

However: the other riddims played by the two DJ's show just how special the first computerized Reggae riddim actually was.
