"NYABINGHY (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 11 2007 - Even though Nyabinghy technically isn't Reggae, and even though there are those within Rastafari who would prefer people not to play Reggae at all but to stay with playing the hand drums at Rasta grounations, the rhythm still serves as foundation for Reggae Music.

This is explained by none other than Mikey Dread in a documentary called "Deep Roots". The deep roots is the rhythm of the Rastaman, and the consciousness that he stands for.

Nyabinghy stands for chanting down Babylon. Reggae Music, at least a lot of it, stands for the same. Sure, this is because much Reggae was, is, and continues to be played by conscious Rasta's.

WWW, November 2007 - Jamaican music has many remarkable disciplines, out of which the Vocal Harmony Groups is one. Twenty-six crucial tracks!

Reggae Music produced the foundation for many contemporary forms of music: Hip-Hop, for example, could never have come into existence if it were not for the fact that Jamaican DJ's would start to toast over the instrumentals.
