"MAKIN' DUB (5)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)
WWW, January 20 2009 - As soon as I have a Drum and Bassline that I find reasonable, I start to add other instruments.
Usually, I use instruments you will find in a standard Reggae Studio band: piano, guitars, organs, horns, percussion are the main ingredients.
I will make the piano and one guitar play the "skanks" on the 2 and the 4, sometimes also playing around it, while the horns can do just about everything: from blowing a theme to playing along with the "skanks" of the piano and the guitar.
Usually, I will also add an bubbling organ that plays in the deeper realms accompanying the piano and the guitar too.
Often, I will also add instruments such as a clavinet, that plays catchy licks that sound great in echo (at least, I think so)...

DUBROOM STAR SELECTIONS RELEASE
This is the 6th track of the album "DUB Shall Go On", released from January 15 to January 24 2009.
Cool and dreadly: describing the drum and bass line in "He Walk In Dub". You need some pretty good bass speakers to hear the bassdrum as it's playing an energetic pattern that will cause an earthquake when properly played.
The bass goes deep, too. The line is monotonous, and when filters are applied, everything goes even deeper.
