"MAKIN' DUB (8)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)
WWW, January 23 2009 - Even though describing how to make DUB is usually a rather boring and dry technical story, the truth is that DUB is more about feeling than most people imagine.
There is this special feeling when the drum and bass drop in, or out. There is this special feeling when the horns and the riddim section slowly transform into a flood of echo's. There is this special feeling as certain instruments enter the mix totally unidentifiable...
When I mix a DUB, I am driven by my feelings at an extreme level.
No, not that I loose my mind and forget the technical bla-bla, but my feeling tells me when to drop an instrument in or out, and which effect to apply.
One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

DUBROOM STAR SELECTIONS RELEASE
This is the 9th track of the album "DUB Shall Go On", released from January 15 to January 24 2009.
Some riddims can go on and on: this is one of them. A solid drum and bass, some catchy chords and some heavy, heavy echoing on just about everything that reaches the master mixing board.
Not just echoing, by the way: without using one, it's definitely like there's a phaser applied over some of the echo's.
