DUB SESSION #1

DUB SESSION #1
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, March 2008 - The US-based DUB SESSION Podcasts brings us yet another side of DUB in a stream of electronic Drum and Bass driven Riddims. One riddim follows the other in a tripped out Session, perfectly mixed by host DJ Chill Will.

DUB SESSION it is called, and a DUB Session it sure is! After an initial announcement by our host, we dive straight into the deep with some heavy drum and bass driven music by Mad Professor, DUB Syndicate as well as collectives who may not be considered by the Reggae puritans.

As contemporary Dancehall and Reggaeton more often than not stray from the original concept of Reggae Music, so does a lot of electronic music called DUB. However, the true lover of DUB sees those elements of Reggae that (s)he loves amplified rather than taken out.

DUB SESSIONS introduces us to another way of enjoying Reggae and/or DUB, as one riddim after the other comes to us in the style and tradition of Electronica shows: longs parts with(out) Drum and Bass, soundscapes and synthesizer effects galore, everything without (too much) nonsense to break the extremely good vibes.

STEPPIN' YOUTH: CLEMENT COXSONNE DODD SPECIAL
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, February 2008 - The Sound of Coxsonne Dodd's Studio One cannot be mistaken for anything else than what it is. The Studio cannot be denied either, as it has been instrumental in the foundation of Reggae Music.

Time for the Steppin' Youth to take us to 43 Minutes of foundational music!

Studio One's specific sound symbolizes more than Reggae's early beginnings. The Studio was there long time before there was Reggae Music anyway...

Sure, there was no such thing as digital recording techniques back in the days when Reggae was born, but Studio One did not have the expensive equipment that gave rise to the recordings of let's say the Beatles.

The studio started with a two-track recorder and it would take a long time before it became possible for Coxsonne Dodd to record more than these two tracks. And obviously, this can be heard in the releases.

You hear the best of the best musicians playing at their best, the most heartical vocalists in their most heartical style. The music just cries out for the kind of recording equipment that could usually be found in the laboratories of the Babylonian recording Industry.

The Sound of Studio One therefore is truly the Sound of the Poor Man.

Respect is due!

SEE YOU ON MARCH SECOND!

Dubroom Online - Edition February 24 - March 1, 2008

"SEE YOU ON MARCH SECOND!" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, February 24 2008 - In the last seven weeks, I have been writing about Mystery Babylon in my column.

I have been sharing information which I found out and thing, basically the result of researching and putting things together.

Since I wrote it in a column, I didn't really bother top provide footnotes, but the Dubroom Website contains loads and loads of information and links that will provide you with these footnotes.

I plan to write much more about this essential topic too, but in the next week I need to do a couple of things which require me to go into the Outernet and so I will not have the time to put out new editions of Dubroom Online, even though I will visit the Dubroom Message Boards daily.

So... more on March 2nd!

Give Thanks, One Love,

REGGAE NEWS PODCAST #4
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, February 2008 - The fourth episode of the REGGAENEWS.CO.UK Podcast contains a serious selection of Vocals and DUB Versions. In one hour, we hear a wide variety of lesser known artists and known artists with lesser known titles.

It's always a thrill to hear a Reggae tune for the first time. This thrill will be felt many times throughout this Podcast, as the Reggaenews UK crew introduces Reggae Niceness from every decade in the music's history up until the present.

Although the emphasis of the Podcast can be found in Ragga and Dancehall, there are more than enough other styles present to force even the purest Roots purist to take a listen.

And although the volume of the tracks vary in a rather noticeable way, there are no reasons whatsoever not to play the 60 minutes of niceness on maximum volume anyway...
