STOP THAT TRAIN #16

STOP THAT TRAIN #16
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, November 2008 - You know why they have been nominated for the 2008 Reggae Academy Awards after listening to Version Big-Fi track which opens Stop that Train #16.

In the previous Stop That Train episode we explored realms where Reggae purists would never go. We heard how DUB has influences reaching well beyond the borders of Reggae.

The set that makes up Stop That Train #16 is quite different. We go from Rockers to Rub a DUB, to Ska and Rocksteady, even to the hilarious "Dub Auctioneer" which will put at least a smile on your face as you hear... an auctioneer, over a stressed up Jungle beat.

Anything else?

Sure!

Tone 396 is a producer, whose interesting remix of the Bob Marley Classic will want you to find out more about him. The Punky Reggae party continues with The Ruts and there's a couple of Ire DJ tracks by Charlie Chaplin and Ranking Joe as well to keep us moving and grooving as we explore the deeper realms of DUB in the same set.

Nice One!

DENNIS BROWN - LIVE AT REGGAE SUNSPLASH (1991)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW

WWW, November 2008 - See the Crown Prince of Reggae performing for an enormous crowd at the Mother of all Reggae Festivals in Jamaica!

The music is tight and the band is basic: there's nothing left of the "big band approach" which marked the 1970's when people like Dennis Brown and Peter Tosh were touring the world.

Keyboards replace the horns and digital drums replace the acoustic set, this is the sound of the nineties after Jamaica went through a decade of musical turmoil and the phrase "Roots" got a whole new meaning.

MYSTERY BABYLON (175)

Dubroom Online - November 15, 2008

"MYSTERY BABYLON (175)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 15 2008 - When you have people who listen to Reggae Music, conscious Reggae Music, and also claim to believe in Jah, you can assume that you are dealing with Conscious people who Chant Down Babylon, right?

Wrong.

At least, not all the time.

I discovered this the hard way, a few years ago, when I found myself surrounded by all kinds of people who claimed to love Yesus Kristos and loved Reggae Music, too.

By then, I had already engaged myself in a few things of which I now say that they were spiritual fornication.

To say it short, I found myself in Babylon and I knew I had to Step Out.

More Tomorrow...

One Love, Give Thanks,

DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, November 2008 - Just what the Version Big-Fi crew is capable of, can be discovered right at the start of the 15th episode of the Stop That Train Podcast. That's just before they show us just where DUB is capable of!

Beware: heavy vibes ahead. Vibes that will not be pleasing to the ear of the Reggae Purist. Vibes, however, all based on the concept that was developed ever since King Tubby released his first spiced up versions.

Kind of like the version that closes Stop that Train #15.

By the time you've landed to Prince Buster's Rocksteady Instrumental, you've heard just about all kinds of styles and genres all labeled DUB.

Online DUB by Polish based DINO Dub and JAH Billah from Croatia, whose music can be downloaded for free at sites like REGGAEDUBWISE.com and MYSPACE.com

Electronica by UK acts the Orb and Beats International show a side of DUB that appeals to millions of people who may not necessarily dig into DUB and (other) Reggae without having been introduced to it by these acts.

Weird electronic music with the energy and aggression of Punk, or tracks that sound like Hip-Hop: expect all of this and more in Stop That Train #15.

WWW, November 2008 - Germany has a lot of Reggae lovers, and many of them express their love in an enthusiastic way. When a very lively Luciano performs at Summer Jam, the interaction is complete.

As Luciano jumps up and down, asking the public if they feel allright, the Messenger delivers another word of wisdom: Give praise to Rastafari, the Almighty.

He delivers the message to the people of Germany, and those that came from other countries to enjoy this large Reggae festival in the heart of Western Europe.

It's well received!

MYSTERY BABYLON (174)

Dubroom Online - November 14, 2008

"MYSTERY BABYLON (174)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 14 2008 - I've been listening to Reggae Music, watching what is really going on in the Shitstem, for decades now.

Before I started this website, I had already decided that I would never want to work for no Church or Christian Organization because I saw very clearly just how "Christianity" is nothing more but just another branch of Babylon System.

But there was one thing, that I could never imagine and that very thing led me to become kind of a slave for Babylon too, before I broke free.

That thing was the many, many "Christians" who are somehow involved in Reggae Music somehow and would not take anything that the Rastaman says seriously.

TWINKLE BROTHERS - SINCE I THREW THE COMB AWAY (1982)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW

WWW, November 2008 - This Nazarite's Classic performed by the originators at Reggae Sunsplash 1982: another piece of niceness for the eye and ear, the soul and spirit.

Reggae Sunsplash can be called the Mother of all Reggae Festivals, and the video recordings made of the many concerts by the many legendary artists have obviously become a must-see for every self-respecting online Reggae fan.

The Twinkle Brother's classic track can be called a true Nazarite's classic as well. Dealing with situations caused by the fact that someone starts to grow dreadlocks, many could and can identify with the words which makes this track extra special.
