"A PERSONAL THING (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, April 28 2009 - As I said yesterday, in my personal life, next month is going to be crucial.

I will know how many times I will still have to travel to another country on another continent, something which I really don't do as a hobby.

When everything goes the way I hope and pray it will, around the month of October I will be in a completely new life situation.

And end will have come to a period of over two years where I didn't really have a place to call home, even though I wasn't homeless, just torn between two places on this planet that aren't really around each other's corner.

However, I'm not there yet. So please, if you can, pray to Jah for my life and that of those around me. I'm not in trouble, but I am working on a future that isn't easy to achieve.

TRACK 16: DDRO - AKUAKU (AUTOMYSTIC INDIAN SUMMER VERSION)

As it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end, just a little bit different. That can be said about this wonderful compilation of Russian DUB, and so it is. A deeper version of Akuaku (I guess we can guess what it means) closes off a set of tunes that together form more advertizement for Russia than all the tourist agencies of the world together.

"A PERSONAL THING (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, April 27 2009 - As we approach the month of April, in my personal life I am entering a rather crucial phase. Next month, things will happen that will have an impact on my future.

I can't really say much of it, but when everything goes the way I hope and pray that it goes, I will reach a next phase in my personal life that will enable me to work even harder on Dubroom that I was able to do the last let's say two years.

Currently, a lot of my life is reserved for traveling up and down to another country in another continent and back to the Netherlands, which takes a lot of energy.

When I am not in the Netherlands, all the work for Dubroom must have been finished for the time I am out of the country (usually about a month each time), so that leaves little time for things i know I have to do with the website.

"ONLINE DUB ARTISTS (25)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, April 26 2009 - In the last 25 columns, I have been sharing and meditating on a community that I saw getting born and growing up in well over a decade.

There is even a second generation of Online DUB Artists, as the digital technology grew thanks to companies like Propellerhead and their superb REASON program.

My heart is with this community. I feel very much a part of it, and I do my best to promote the serious works and I will continue to do that as long as Jah lets me do it.

Not everything I wrote these last weeks was nice, sometimes it was outright in-your-face, but who the cap fit let them wear it.

In conclusion, I would like to call upon each and everyone who happens to love DUB and Reggae Music. I would like to call to take the music serious and to start working for the promotion of the music as a whole instead of your own little social club that some -including me- would rather call a "cult".

WWW, April 25 2009 - How the future of Online DUB will be exactly, of course I don't know. I can make a prognosis, based on the past and the present, but that's about it.

I know that there will always be people who need Reggae Music, or DUB Music, or both, and I know there will always be people who have the music in their heart and want it to come out on the Internet.

I know that physical CD sales et cetera are going down, down, down, as the Industry loses it's grip on what should never have been a product in their hands at all, especially not when it comes to DUB and other Reggae.

I know that true independence will produce the best creative works, it has always been like that, and it will be like that again in the near future when the less serious Online Artists will run out of fun and have to get on with their non-musical lifes.

The beat goes on, but definitely in a different style. The steppers have disappeared and changed in a more relaxed set of patterns. The bass goes lower, lower than the lowest bass guitar can ever go.

WWW, April 24 2009 - The future for the Online DUB Artist Community is, in my idea, a positive one. For well over a decade, I was blessed to witness the birth and growth of this Community, and I have seen the strength.

Too many attacks on the Online DUB Artist Community would already have killed the concept and the music, if it would have been possible.

Sure, social clubs and parasites will always be there, and they might even gain a little bit of success here and there. But overall, people are drawn to Reggae Music because of the heartical contents of the rhythm.

After all, it's all about the people who in the end want to listen to the music. You, me, when we play a tune because we look for comfort, for an Ire vibe, for whatever we know Music can give us.

WWW, April 23 2009 - Even though the Online DUB Artist Community is suffering, I am positive about the future.

I believe in the power of Reggae Music. I believe, that you need to have a certain drive to be able to make the music, and when you do not have that drive, sooner or later you will either leave the realms of Reggae or even leave the realms of music altogether.

I have seen the demise of certain websites, after they were hijacked by social groups who do not have the interest of DUB and Reggae in mind.

I believe, that the Music will be the Winner when the confusion in the current situation has reached it's climax.

Why?

The Music has a self-cleaning mechanism that too many don't even realize.
