Episode Picture

WWW, July 2012 -  A selection full of heavyweight DUB with a couple of vocal tracks, including some from the brand new free MP3 release "Italian Dub Community Showcase Chapter 4", freshly reviewed at mp3.dubroom.org, brand new Vibronics from the album "French Connection", Bush Chemists and more. Encoded in High Quality MP3, here is Deep DUB and Roots from Europe, with Bass!

In this extra-long selection, uploaded in ultra-high quality, we get a taste of some brand new releases, namely Vibronics' "French Connection" and the fourth instalment of the excellent Italian Dub Community Showcase series. Except for the first and the last track, this is a stricktly steppers selection just because it is Ammagideon Time or heading towards it, not just inna Europe but all over.

We start of with two Dubplate mixes from Dougie Wardrop at his Conscious Sounds studio, featuring Tena Stelin and Hughie Izachaar on vocals. Followed by two heavyweight steppers and two vocals and Dubs with Culture Freeman in a heartical selection of uplifting, spiritual material from the well-known UK based collective.

Vibronics recently released a very much reccomended album in which he works together with some of the top DUB producers in the country of France. These two, as well as two other tracks are included in this selection and they follow the Conscious Sounds segment.

The second half of the non-stop mix is reserved for a selection out of the excellent Italian Dub Community Showcase series, of which Chapter Four was recently released and reviewed in the Dubroom. The free download is well worth it, as the Italian Dub Community show they're standing strong inna dis ya time.

One hour and thirty-seven minutes of pure niceness to chant down Babylon and lift up consciousness! Bless!

VARIOUS ARTISTS - ITALIAN DUB COMMUNITY SHOWCASE CHAPTER 4

VARIOUS ARTISTS - ITALIAN DUB COMMUNITY SHOWCASE CHAPTER 4DUBROOM MP3 ALBUM REVIEW

More

WWW, July 2012 - The fourth installment of the Italian DUB Community (IDC) Showcase series takes the musical vibe to another level, incorporating several elements of Dubstep and other Dub-derived styles. A well-appreciloved combination of (DUB) Roots and Electronica that contains some very interesting and recommended material for the Worldwide and Online DUB Massive.

In many ways, Chapter 4 goes into a different direction compared to the previous three. There is less of the straight-up steppers riddims, and more electronica in the mixes. The result is a surprising excursion into the current digital technologies of which DUB certainly stood at the root. The IDC surely shows Roots and Culture to the contemporary DUB scene, in the broadest sense of the word DUB.

Just mentioning Jambassa's "Declaration of Indipendence": chilling out in a style that in part hints towards the vibes in Mad Professor's works with Massive Attack. This is one of the titles on the album that could be played by DJ's in just about any electronic set. Another interesting track worth to mention in this context is the contribution by The Imperial Sound Army: A very interesting and intelligent mix of DUB and Dubstep heartically voiced by singer Dan-I.

Less of the straight-up steppers riddims doesn't mean the album is void of them. Quite the contrary: take the massive, heartical Vocal and DUB by Moa Anbessa for example. "Education" is one of these tunes that will be played on many sounds and broadcasts for years to come.

The Natural DUB Cluster comes with a heavyweight, up-tempo electronic steppers called "Movin'". Can't ignore this one either, if only for the militancy. A monotonous bassline just playing on the whole count, melting together with the bassdrum. Foundation for a minimalistic track which you need to play several times before discerning the distorted spoken words.

There's also stuff for people who love their basic Reggae and are not neccesarily into (militant) Steppers or excursions into wherever, who are just longing for a good drum and bassline. Filomuzik, a new name in the series, comes with a title U.N.I.T.Y. and should be mentioned at this place. Fat bass in an upfull Rub a Dub riddim, mixed in Old Skool style. Wicked DUB Division's "Sound Of A Rebel" is another one in the same style.

Conclusion: IDC Showcase Chapter 4 is definitely no album that should be listened to just once in order to get the vibes, in order to discover the nine different angles covered in eighteen mixes. There is just too much in there. It's not more of the same even though that would in itself be very much appreciloved and even though it is building upon the three previous chapters.

It's something that makes you wonder what will happen in the next Chapter, like in a good book!

Yes, this is a tune that lands very well here at the Dubroom. Not just because of the lyrics: this is Glen Washington at his best, as many more should get to hear and so we are grateful for this free and legal download.

DAILY NEW MP3 REVIEWS FOR JULY 2012

DAILY NEW MP3 REVIEWS FOR JULY 2012
FROM THE DUBROOM WEBMASTER

To the Dubroom MP3 Reviews

WWW, July 1 2012 - Even though yours truly knows himself to be on a "partial sabbathical", Jah Willing this summer the Dubroom will be far from inactive as we hope to publish at least two new MP3 reviews, each one of course with a free and legal download link. In this update we're previewing the material scheduled for this month and a little bit more.

Last month, we already started to put out two MP3 reviews a day, After all, that month did mark the beginning of the Dubroom website 15 years before, in june 1997. In the same time, an opportunity arose to present 100's of tunes from the JET STAR Label. So: blesseth. We're dealing with well known names like Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Luciano, Frankie Paul and many more. Historic recordings, DUB, Roots but also there's Lovers Rock, Gospel and much more.

This month, to pick a few names, Jah Willing expect material from Anthony B, Glen Washington, Beres Hammond, Carlene Davis, Cocoa Tea and Dennis Brown. Among others, that is. You can find the links on either the Dubroom Blog, the Dubroom Reggae Reviews Blog, the Dubroom Message Boards or at mp3.dubroom.org. There are also artist pages at mp3.dubroom.org, where you can find additional info and tunes.

Lastly, a more personal note from yours truly.

I do notice that I am really in need for a "artial sabbathical". It means I will take it really easy just to regain strength and thing. I do find the time and energy to work on these MP3 reviews but that's about it. There are other things that I do need to do and one of these things is to take that rest. Apologizes for slow communication and everything, but it's better to gain energy than to use every last bit of the reserve...

15 Years Of Dubroom - Flood of MP3 Reviews Coming (Jah Willing)

WWW, June 2012 - After almost a year of relative silence, the Dubroom will slowly start publishing new MP3 reviews starting June 15, 2012. Here's a small update from the Dubroom Webmaster concerning this and other issues related to the website and Messian Dread himself.
Greetings Massive!

It has been a long time since I've been reviewing MP3's and releasing podcasts, not to mention putting out my own material. Many reasons for this, some of which are still actuality. I did not have the time, energy or even inspiration to do what I've been doing these last 15 years. That's right, at the time I write this the Dubroom exists already for 15 years this very month!

Yesterday, I uploaded the first podcast after about half a year or so. I'm grateful that I could do it and hopefully I'll find more opportunity to mix shows. I also work on an incredible amount (talking in the hundreds possibly) new MP3 reviews of which you can get the first two tomorrow at dubroomreviews.blogspot.com. or http://dubroom.blogspot.com/. They will later be put on the mp3.dubroom.org website as well.

I hope to be able to provide you with two MP3 reviews per day for the coming months. Jah Willing, obviously. I am in a period wherein I know I have to take it easy, I call it a "partial sabbathical", and I know that Jah is not against this to put it this way. After 15 years, the Dubroom is still there and I do not think that it's wrong to spend time with friends and family as I am re-charging the battery after one-and-a-half decade.

One Love,
Messian Dread

Radio Dubroom 2012 Chapter 1: Dub Sessions With The Scientist

DUB SESSIONS WITH THE SCIENTIST
RADIO DUBROOM 2012 CHAPTER 1

Episode Picture

WWW, June 2012 -  In this second artist special, Radio Dubroom gives you a selection of twenty-one titles carrying the works of this, one of the Founding Fathers of Dub: The Scientist! And the best thing is, you can download each single tune for free and it's even legal...

The Scientist started off his works back in the 1970's at the studio of King Tubby. It's as close as you can get to being an active participant in the establishment of Dub as we still know it today, decades later. He often used Tubby's equipment in the titles presented in this podcast, mixed non-stop by Messian Dread. It's clear that the Scientist showed some of the most creative talents around in that time.

Dub Sessions With The Scientist mainly contains some lesser known works, all of which are available as free download or even better: a little teaser to the extremely versatile catalogue of the Scientist himself. Links are available at the Dubroom's MP3 page on the Scientist, where you can find music and reviews galore.

Radio Dubroom 2011 Chapter 12: JAH Kingdom Come

JAH KINGDOM COME
RADIO DUBROOM 2011 CHAPTER 12

Comments
WWW, November 2011 - It's been a while since the previous chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011 has been posted online, but good things come to those that wait and here it is: a brand new 1 1/2 hour long non-stop mix carrying some heavyweight Roots and Dub from different times and places.
Starting with a healthy selection of old-skool Jamaican material, this chapter surely has many different styles to offer. The Congo's with their classic "Ark of the Covenant", Cornell Campbell's excellent discomix "Lion of Judah", the magnificent Horace Andy with a meditation of the "Youth of Today" (also in Discomix) and Gregory Isaacs with yet another classic from the motion picture "Rockers", followed by Dillinger and Prince Fari form the opening segment. Classic, old skool material that will not only appeal to the elderly among us but equally to folks born at a later point in tome. Good DUB included, of course.

After this, we're diving straight into a selection of UK/Euro DUB and Roots. Dutch singer Lyrical Benjie with two massive tunes, one carrying a heavyweight Dub part and from the UK there's the Talking Dog with not just crucial vibes but equally crucial lyrics. Lyrics that should appeal to the lovers of consciousness as Babylon System is falling even though she claims the opposite.

There's more: From the excellent AKA Dub Part One compilation released by the Scandinavian LUSH RECORDS label, to the Italian DUB Community and even to Japan where Dry and Heavy keep playing their massive Roots and DUB in Old Skool Style. There's French DUB as well, with conscious contents: almost a given when it comes to European contemporary Roots and Culture.

The show closes off with an extended version by the UK based "Dub From Atlantis" collective, more or less a cover version of a classic track of which yours truly has forgotten the name. Last but not least, here are the Abassi All-Stars with vocalist Kenny Knots once again explaining that Babylon really has a Wicked Intention, something that has to be mentioned.

Babylon Observer Video Report: Reefer Madness In The Netherlands Part 2

WWW, October 2011 - Reefer madness in the Netherlands continues as the right-wing minority coalition of the country announced it will label Cannabis products with a THC level higher than 15% as "hard drugs".

The controversial decision has been made without parliamental approval and is already in effect.

The decree is part of a government crack-down on the legendary Dutch tolerance policy towards Cannabis and will affect Coffee Shops and it's owners.

Secretary of "security and justice" Ivo Opstelten announced that police will raid coffee shops in search of the so-called "hard drugs".

Should Cannabis with a THC level above 15% be found, coffee shop owners will be persecuted as hard drug dealers.
