Dubroom Online - Edition September 11, 2007

Dubroom Online - Edition September 11, 2007

WWW, September 11 2007 - Happy New Year! Yes, that's right: while the rest of the world is remembering that terrible day in 2001 in America, the Ethiopians celebrate their new year and they do that for centuries now.

To remember this, we have reviewed a video wherein Count Ossie and the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari perform during Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica in 1966.

We also reviewed a great MIX CD by the German based Sound System Roots Ministry called "A Conference with His Majesty": 70 minutes of pure Roots and Cultures with a slice of Dancehall.

Yes, have a good year, whoever you are!

Give Thanks, One Love,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

COUNT OSSIE - NYABINGHY DRUMMING IN JAMAICA, 1966

Many people think, that Reggae is Rasta Music and yes, to a very large degree this is so. However, when you really want to know the Rastaman's Rhythm, you must check out the Nyabinghy rhythm.

Nyabinghy means "Death to black and white downpressors", and was introduced as a rhythm by Count Ossie, somewhere in the early 1960's.

In this historical footage, shot during Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica in 1966, we will see the Count himself as he performs the rhythm to celebrate the visit of the Ethiopian Lion of Judah.

RICHIE SPICE AND SPANNER BANNER - LIVE AT REBEL SALUTE, 2005

"Rebel Salute" is a Jamaican Reggae Festival. It is nut just any Jamaican Reggae Festival, though. Originally founded by Tony Rebel, there's a line-up of Stricktly Roots and Culture and this give the festival that extra touch.

When Richie Spice and Spanner Banner enter stage, the vibe is allready there. Countless of Ethiopian Flags everywhere, a large band complete with backing vocals to provide the rhythm: Ire Ites!

Dubroom Online - Edition September 9, 2007

WWW, September 9 2007 - Promoting Reggae Music is very much a labour of love. And more often than not, it is done by people who at moment in their life Arose in Love with the rhythm.

The "House of Reggae" Podcast is just one example of such a labour of love. Truly, a nice and ire vibration in which the pure love for Reggae Music is the predominant factor.

Love for the Creator is a thing that you will also find within Reggae Music. Not just in Reggae Music, though. The ancient wisdom of many "Native Americans" contains a deep worship of the Creator and He turns out to be the Same One as we know under His name JAH.

Have a great day under the Sun!
