"BOOK OF LYRICS" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 2 2009 - When I first opened the book and started to read, as a teenager, I was kind of flabbergasted as they say in that island in front of the European Continent.

It was like I knew almost every page without knowing that I did. I recognized lyrics of too many tunes to mention, and it was only the beginning of the discovery of, let's say, the secret book of lyrics where so many Reggae artists draw their inspiration from.

Probably well over 10% of all Reggae lyrics have a reference or even a direct quote from a book, which I have seen described as "dusty and old" by someone who tried to maintain how the Bible was totally irrelevant to Reggae Music.

If it wasn't so out of line, so shockingly ignorant, it would really be one of the best jokes I heard this year.

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

"A GRATEFUL DREAD" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 1 2009 - Greetings to each and everyone who might read this, preferably at or around October the first in this year of 2009.

Jah Willing, another month filled with MP3 reviews is ahead of us, for which I give thanks. I also give thanks for the fact that I have definitely landed at a more easy period in my rather turbulent life, which enables me to sit down and write a bit more.

The last two years I've been traveling up and down, a thing which I don't have to do no more. I give thanks for that, but I also give thanks for the fact that I've learned an incredible lot in these last years on my (intercontinental) travels.

I'm a Grateful Dread, I give thanks to Jah for being alive!

One Love, Give Thanks,

Dubroom Online MP3 Reviews For September 2009

WWW, September 2009 - Last August 17, the Dubroom started with a brand new daily series of MP3 reviews, all coming with a free and legal direct download link on the review page.

Here's the schedule for the month of October, 2009.

From Carlton Livingston's unforgettable 100 pounds of collie to Ranking Dread's Lots of Loving, the month of October has a lot of 1980's Reggae in store. About two thirds of the 31 musical works are from that time.

There's also a healthy portion of UK Dub and Roots, with the mighty Vibronics, Jah Free and Nucleus Roots among others. Dubs and vocals, all coming with that heavy bass and strategically placed effects.

On top of that, there's a couple of more modern tracks, even some brand new music for your listening pleasure and possible purchase. After all, the tunes we review in this series is just a small portion of what you can get when you receive the full albums either in MP3 format or on old fashioned Compact Disc.

"EZ TRAX" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, September 30 2009 - Today, we end our daily series of presenting a free and legal track from the EZTRACKS.com website.

An interesting website, if only because it has a rather extensive collection of old Wailers tunes. Among a lot of really nice Roots Reggae tracks which fit very well in the total spectrum of reviewed music on the Dubroom.

On the other hand, you really have to want to have these tunes, for the registration and download processes are not really that simple. Additionally, they have a lot of karaoke and cover songs presented as the real thing.

Whatever the case: it really is free and legal, and it is (DUB) Reggae, so we feature it on the Dubroom.

Just like our series of daily MP3 reviews, which doesn't stop today!

"JAH WOOSH" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, September 29 2009 - Today and tomorrow, we feature a great Vocal and Dub by Reggae DJ Jah Woosh.

His album "Marijuana World Tour" is a cult classic among a certain kind of people for obvious reasons, but the track we feature is more than crucial for everyone who likes their 70's DJ and DUB vibes.

Tracks, actually.

Tomorrow's featured MP3 Review is the excellent Dub Version of "This Natty Allright", which also carries the vocal sounds of Horace Andy.

I wonder why Jah Woosh is not more known than he is among lovers of the better Roots and Culture. Hopefully, the two MP3's will contribute to spreading Jah Woosh vibes among a wider audience...

"NO GENERATION GAP" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, September 28 2009 - Today, we feature the Power Steppers in our series of daily MP3 Reviews. It's another collective in the Musical Discipline we know as UK DUB and ROOTS.

We also feature another track from the Wailers that you can download legally for free from the EZTRACKS.com Website. Music from a time wherein a lot of us were either just born (like yours truly) or not born at all.

It shows the strength of Reggae Music, in a way.

Music that can be decades old will appeal to the generation I know myself to be a part of (born in 1965), or the generations after that, where new music like that of the Power Steppers will not just attract younger listeners.

"FROM THE WEBROOM DIARY" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, September 27 2009 - As we approach the end of this first full month of daily MP3 reviews, the catalogue in the Dubroom's MP3 Portal gets more and more interesting.

In fact, I think that the tunes you can find there and are scheduled to be placed in the Portal at a later date make the Portal more interesting than it has ever been before.

In the same time, the brand new section of Dubroom Artist Pages finally links all the Dubroom Reggae Reviews together even though the work is by far not finished.

A lot of work, but all of this is as significant as previous major updates of the Dubroom Website.

I have to write a long addition to the Dubroom's Site History, which you can find in the Section especially for new visitors of this website.
