ITALIAN DUB COMMUNITY SHOWCASE VOLUME 3

ITALIAN DUB COMMUNITY SHOWCASE VOLUME 3DUBROOM MP3 ALBUM REVIEWNet Label Website

WWW, June 2011 - The long wait is over: widely anticipated throughout the online Dub community, here is the third chapter of the phenomenal Italian Dub Community Showcase serial. Fifteen titles, thirty tracks, and once again the selection is stronger than strong. Consciousness and Dubwise galore, this is definitely a very precious gift from the Italian DUB Community to the World Wide DUB Massive. Respect is more than due!

A precious gift it is, indeed. There is no reason for anyone to consider the fact that this free Net Album was released under Creative Commons Copyright to be a sign of a low quality contents. This is a sign of life from a very vibefull Italian DUB Community which cannot be refused or even denied.

The fifteen different names range from the more well known names in Dub land like the Alambic Conspiracy, Dub Engine and Wicked Dub Division to artists like Cultural Sound System of whom not so much material is released via the Net Label channels. A Serious selection fe true, we're speaking about stricktly High Quality Low Bass Roots Reggae, showcase style.

Even though this is extremely difficult to choose, nevertheless, two highlights.

Voiced by Idren Natural, "No More War" by Cultural Sound System is a hard hitting Steppers track. The vocal part is actually a discomix and the Dub is superb. This is the kind of tune you want to listen to again and again, both for the message and the music

Another hard hitting Steppers which stands out is "Hunger/Hunger Dub" by Dub Shiloh. The track starts of with sounds, after which the up-tempo drum and bass line pop in the mix. The first mix might be kind of crucial, the second mix (officially entitled Hunger Dub) really is. This one will keep you jumping all the while, especially with some better speakers.

All in all, Italian DUB Community Showcase 3 was more than worth the wait, the anticipations were not in vain. There's unity and cooperation in this community, no partiality and no competition.

This is a serious selection of some heavy-duty, heavyweight Euro Dub and Roots you just cannot refuse!

This album was released under CreativeCommons Copyright, which means you can share it provided that the original zipfile is being offered without any change. Another aspect of the CC copyright is, that no money should be made and therefor this album is offered to you free of charge. For more specific information, look to the information in the archive. When you like the music, consider visiting the Net Label's website and donate some money or feedback.

ALAMBIC CONSPIRACY - THE MISSING DUB VERSIONS

ALAMBIC CONSPIRACY - THE MISSING DUB VERSIONS
DUBROOM MP3 ALBUM REVIEW

image

WWW, June 2011 - San Martino di Campagna, Italy. It's December 2010 and the Alambic Conspiracy DUB Studio is settling down in this new location, north of Venice. When everything is put in place, some older recording pop up: the Missing DUB Versions. With names like BR Stylers and Zion Train to name just two, these DUB Versions have fortunately now been found. Sixteen DUB Versions, that is!

The outstanding work on The Missing DUB Versions is not just found in the incredible riddims that serve as the foundation found on this album. It's equally, perhaps even more, in the art of DUB mixing applied. Most of the things are done in a stricktly old skool tradition of analogue effects and mixing board. Remarkable, when you realize that most of the work was done during the last three years.

Even more remarkable is the fact that according to the conspirators themselves, none of these tracks were ever intended for release. Why that would be, is a question to most: even for the collective themselves. It's truly a very interesting exposition of old skool methodology on new skool Euro and UK Roots Reggae riddims.

From the top to the very last drop, the album continues to have this special vibe. Given the fact that the tracks were recorded by a variety of musicians and studio's, a noteworthy point. The Alambic Conspiracy knows who to mix their DUB and this album will show it to every self respecting lover of the better contemporary DUB.

DUBALIZER - IN TRANSE

DUBALIZER - IN TRANSE
DUBROOM MP3 ALBUM REVIEW

image

WWW, June 2011 - Hailing from Sao Paulo, Dubalizer knows how to make some very interesting mixes in which he takes the concept of Dub as his guideline, while kind of taking straight back to the source those techniques that derived from DUB.

Unfortunately, In Transe does only contain three tracks. These three tracks all have their own specific vibe and style even though everything is undoubtly coming from the same producer. From the magnificent opening track to the heartically voiced middle one to the more Dubstep orientated closing tune, this is more than interesting to listen to.

REEFER MADNESS IN THE NETHERLANDS 2011
FAR RIGHT-WING ADMINISTRATION CONSIDERING PUTTING STRONG WEED ON HARD DRUGS LIST

WWW, June 24 2011 - A commission to advice the Dutch administration concerning the nation's drugs policy claims that cannabis with over 15% THC should be considered hard drugs in Dutch criminal law.

In interviews with Dutch public TV, the ministers of Health and Justice respond positively as they enter the parliament building to officially receive the advice from the commission.

When the advice is brought into law, this would bring the Netherlands back to the days of Reefer Madness as the world famous Dutch tolerance policy towards Cannabis would de facto end.

An Open Letter to Judge James Moody Regarding Sentencing for Buju Banton

An Open Letter to Judge James Moody Regarding Sentencing for Buju Banton

By: Natasha Von Castle

CANADA
- As you are well aware, Buju Banton faces sentencing on June 23rd for his conviction on the charge conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute.

We cannot change the conviction, however, our collective voices can influence the Judge to reduce the suggestion of a 15 year sentence.

Below is my open letter to the judge. If it is within you, add your voice and let the Judge know how you feel regarding the amount of time Buju serves. My letter is included below.

An open letter to Judge James Moody sent via e-mail: chambers_flmd_moody@flmd.uscourts.gov

And via airmail:

The Honourable James S. Moody Jr.
United States District Judge
Tampa Division
801 North Florida Avenue
Tampa, Florida 33602

Dear Judge Moody;

In your many years within the justice system as a lawyer and Judge, I am sure you have come across cases that have either touched you, or touched the community which you represent. A touch could be a personal understanding of one or some of the components in a case, just as a touch can be pride in knowing that the justice system worked (the way it’s supposed to) in making sure the right people receive the right punishment according to their crime(s).

Your honor, I am writing this letter with the belief that I, on behalf of the community I represent, can appeal to you on a ‘touch’ level.

Before your court is the matter of Mr. Mark ‘Buju Banton’ Myrie who is due to be sentenced on June 23rd by you, for the conviction he received on the charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute. I appeal to you to reduce Buju’s sentence from the recommended 15 years.

Buju is not like any man you will ever meet. He is a friend, a father, a husband and one of the pillars in the Caribbean community; not just Jamaica, but every Caribbean community in every city around the world.

As one of our pillars, he has given the community songs which nourish the soul. This nourishment has turned youths away from crime, has strengthened families and healed those who were not well.

How do we know this is true? The testimony of countless of which I am one. He spoke for me when he sang ‘I wanna go ahead without turning back / and now I see myself heading for the trap / I wanna break free but I feel trapped / a voice inside me saying don’t stop ….’ Those words were taken from the song “Optimistic Soul” which encouraged listeners to not give up, no matter how daunting the situation looks. Those were Buju’s words from 2010. If we go back 10 years before that, we have ‘there was good and evil / we chose good ….’

When an announcement is made that Buju will be performing, the show(s) sell out. Tickets are purchased by people who want a live touch of Buju’s nourishing words. Fans leave the concerts fulfilled and refocused on the right path.

We, the community, need Buju, and we need you to understand his importance to us. Because of these needs, I ask you to not sentence Buju to 15 years in prison. I ask that you consider his humanitarian works with the children of his homeland Jamaica and I ask that you consider his impact on the Caribbean community around the world. Once you’ve considered these, I ask that you set a sentence that will not see Buju away from us for a lengthy period of time.

Thank you,

Natasha Von Castle
