"UK ROOTS" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)
WWW, October 5 2007 - The history of UK Reggae is almost as old as the Jamaican music itself, but things really started to roll in the 1970's.
Bob Marley and the Wailers gained world popularity, which gave the development of UK Reggae an enormous boost in the right direction. It didn't take long for the UK to be flooded with Studio's and Sound Systems, Singers and Players of Instruments.
Many are still active today, by the way. Adrian Sherwood and his On-U Sound, for example. Or the Axis Sound System. They both have a history that goes back to the late 1970's, early 1980's and today we go back to those days and enjoy the vibes once more.
Give Thanks, One Love,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)
