"AN OLD HABIT" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 1 2009 - Those of you who read my columns, know that I've been traveling up and down to another continent for the last two years. Just recently, I was thankful to close that period as taking airplanes is not really one of my favorite occupations.

I hadn't really scheduled this, because at the moment this all started I was also engaged in building the Dubroom Studio. There's material here which will enable us to record live play by artists, one of which is a crucial electronic drum kit, a Roland drums from the V-series.

This kit triggered me to take up on an old habit which is to play drums. I hadn't played drums for years, kinda stopped doing it in the early 1990's, but for some reason I'm driven to take the drum sticks again and beat the rust out of my body.

WWW, September 2009 - Last August 17, the Dubroom started with a brand new daily series of MP3 reviews, all coming with a free and legal direct download link on the review page.

Here's the schedule for the month of November, 2009.

As we enter into the third full month of the Dubroom Online MP3 Reviews serial, mp3.dubroom.org has already been undergoing a more than interesting change in the catalogue of available music. In this month, JAH Willing we'll be continuing that quality and quantity improvement of what still is the largest collection of interesting free and legal (DUB) Reggae MP3's.

Even though not every style of (DUB) Reggae will appeal to everyone in the same degree, we hope that this month you'll also find music that will appeal to you. Contemporary Roots by Edi Fitzroy, UK DUB from the Abassi All-Stars, Jamaican DUB with Mikey Dread: just three selections out of many more.

Culture's lead singer Joseph Hill, who unfortunately passed away, has a son who is obviously mentored by his father but remains to have his own personal touch. This month, the Dubroom features two tracks by Kenyata Hill that need special attention by everyone who hasn't yet heard the singer.

All in all, we hope that you'll find some crucial advise for your next (DUB) Reggae purchases in this month's selection of completely free and legal MP3's that you can download without any registration straight from the Dubroom's review pages.

"BIG UP TO AURALUX!" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 31 2009 - Today, Dubroom Online features three MP3 tracks and one of them is made available by the label at the Dubroom's special request. For which we obviously give thanks!

We're talking about "Dub Ovation", mixed by a then very young Scientist and taken from the Auralux re-release "World at War", an album literally filled with more-than-crucial DUB material.

Labels like Auralux are not afraid to share a couple of tunes in order to make people familiar with their excellent releases. It's a more than friendly way to promote music and this more than friendly way should be answered positively, for example in the form of a purchase.

Scientist's "World at War", for example.

"UK DUB AND (NUCLEUS) ROOTS" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 29 2009 - Jah Willing, Dubroom Online will keep featuring an MP3 review of the UK based Roots and Dub collective Nucleus Roots until November 6. Then, a total of 12 tracks will have been reviewed and featured in Dubroom Online.

It's a remarkable collective, Nucleus Roots. They deserve much more attention than they currently get.

One time, they sound a bit like Aswad or Steel Pulse, the another time it's deep UK Roots in the style of the Reggae Regulars and Pablo Gad, where at other times works of the Dub engineers like the Mad Professors are approached at an interesting proximity.

Check them out, visit their website, buy their albums!

"THIS IS THE DUBROOM (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 28 2009 - The Dubroom is definitely not a business or a religious mission or something like that. The Dubroom is a labour of a love. A love for (DUB) Reggae and Consciousness, shared by countless others.

Almost everything on this website is offered free of charge, sections of the Dubroom like the MP3 portal serve both listeners and label in this Musical Culture called Reggae, a Culture rather than a business because to promote (DUB) Reggae is, in the end, to promote the sufferers who originated the music and dominate it until this very day.

Anyway, I needed to share a little bit, these last days, about just what drove me to start the Dubroom and keep maintaining it throughout these last 12 years and -Jah willing- years to come.

"THIS IS THE DUBROOM (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 27 2009 - Love for (DUB) Reggae and Consciousness is what made me start the Dubroom in 1997. It's still this love that keeps me doing what I do, so it's not so far stretched to call the Dubroom a labour of love.

Reggae Music has taught me a lot throughout life. Bible quotes, insightful lyrics, musical vibrations that enter where no other music can touch my heart and soul, et cetera.

Unlike some folks, it is simply impossible for me to separate the music from the lyrics and therefore I do take the lyrics very serious.

This is why the Dubroom has several research projects wherein, if you will, footnotes are added to many Reggae lyrics. Research projects which are not always appreciloved by everybody.

"THIS IS THE DUBROOM (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 26 2009 - Greetings! I hope you don't mind that Jah Willing, the next days I'll use my column to explain a little bit just why the Dubroom is the site that it is.

The reason for that is that I've seen some rather confusing speculations, basically giving the idea that the Dubroom's aim is to make money or at least to increase traffic at any cost.

However, neither money nor traffic drives me to maintain the Dubroom. What drives me is love, love for (DUB) Reggae Music and love for the consciousness that people can get when they listen to Reggae Music with an open heart and mind.

Even though there are many things outright wrong in Reggaeland, and even though it's possible to have endless debates as to what exactly is Consciousness, I do love (DUB) Reggae and Consciousness and that made me start the Dubroom in 1997.

"WORK IN PROGRESS..." (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, October 25 2009 - The Dubroom Artist Pages are growing into a reasonable section with currently about 70 artists present. When new pages are added in the tempo that it currently is done, we should reach the 150 by the end of this year.

That's not all that needs to be done on the site, though.

As the MP3's are flooding in, everything has to be properly linked to in the MP3 portal. The download pages need links to other recommended tracks, and more.

Then there is the Video portal. As I'm building the Artist Pages, I come across just too many video's which have been removed. There will soon come a time wherein I have to do a huge cleaning in the Video Portal.

Nuff Works To Do!

JUNIOR DELGADO - HEART OF LOVE (DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW)
