Dubroom Message Boards (3) (Webmaster Column)

Dubroom Online - Edition December 17, 2007

"DUBROOM MESSAGE BOARDS (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 17 2007 - The Message Boards contain much more than just (comments on) the Dubroom articles and reviews. When it's related to (DUB) Reggae and/or Consciousness, there's a big chance you can find something about it on the forums (actually: fora).

Artists, broadcasters and promoters can use the boards to promote their material, so they don't need to wait until there's a Dubroom review about their works.

This is nice for Dubroom readers/visitors as well, because it simply means there's more to check out than just the material you can find on the website.

Give Thanks, One Love,

DUBSTA CHAPTER TWO
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, December 2007 - Opening up with Mikey Dread's massive and even anthemic Saturday Night Style definitely sets the tone for the second chapter of Dubsta: another 72 minutes of stricktly DUB awaits!

Ask "any" well-known producer of contemporary Digital Dance Music, and (s)he will tell you all about how DUB really stands at the foundation of their music.

When (s)he knows his/her own business, that is...

It is said, that DUB originated in King Tubby's studio when he was doing a sound check and forgot to turn of the echo before pressing the "play" button. We all know where it went to, otherwise we wouldn't be checking out Dubsta's second Podcast anyway.

Chapter One introduced us to many of the originators of DUB: King Tubby of course, and Prince Jammy. We got a little taste of the fruits, too, but Chapter Two of Dubsta takes us even further down the road of DUB as we even transcend the realms of Reggae!

Dubroom Online - Edition December 16, 2007

"DUBROOM MESSAGE BOARDS (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 16 2007 - Some people will visit the Dubroom Message Boards rather than the website, and not just to check the editions of Dubroom Online.

There is the possibility to comment on Dubroom articles, for example. Some are very controversial, which makes the in-depth reasonings that sometimes follow these articles very interesting.

Of course members can (and do!) post their own articles as well, often with the same result.

Because everything is -like the Dubroom website- placed under several categories, it is easy to find what you're looking for. And in the same time, it's easy to avoid those things that may offend you.

DUBSTA CHAPTER ONE
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, December 2007 - With an interesting, catchy combination of Old and New Skool DUB, Dubsta Chapter One satisfies the needs of the lover of Drum and Bass Driven Music.

Did King Tubby know, what he was listening to when he first heard the drum and bass with echo's on what was said to be a sound check in his studio somewhere in the late 1960's, early 70's?

Did he know, he was about to launch a completely new discipline in studio technology that would forever change the face of not just Reggae Music, but in fact all contemporary forms of (digital) Dance Music?

The answer we will probably never know.

We do know, that DUB indeed has become just that: the foundation for many styles as well as a discipline within Reggae Music that continues to puzzle the minds of many producers until this very day.

We also know, that this can all be experienced by listening to the first chapter of the two-part Dubsta Series.

After an initial introduction, we're taken straight to Jamaica where Prince Jammy and King Tubby give us some crucial DUB vibes, only to move forward to the UK where the Mad Professor is at the Control Tower and takes DUB even further.

Just three names, and don't think it's all about them either.

Dubsta Chapter One takes us to times and places where many don't think they can find some crucial DUB as their minds are mostly in the past anyway.

Know DUB, download DUBSTA CHAPTER ONE!

Ska-Boom! (MP3 Review)

SKA-BOOM!
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, December 2007 - "A Good Ska Is Hard To Beat", says Mick Sleeper. He's been "A Ska Man Longer Than A Reggae Man" which says some thing as well and not (just) his age!

Mick Sleeper knows his Ska as he knows his Reggae.
"Ska Boom!" is a very appropriate title of the 10th episode of his podcast, as it is much more than "just" another mix of pre-Reggae Jamaican Music. It truly is a "bomb selection" that doesn't only show where Reggae is coming from, it actually portrays the energy that came with music back in the 1960's as if it was played yesterday.

Surely, "Ska Boom!" is something you want to check out for more than the obvious -essential and historical- reasons. You will actually start to move and groove even when your grandmother was young around the time..

Dubroom Message Boards (1) (Webmaster Column)

Dubroom Online - Edition December 15, 2007

"DUBROOM MESSAGE BOARDS (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 15 2007 - The Dubroom Message Boards contain an enormous amount of in-depth reasonings and meditations about a wide variety of topics from a wide variety of perspectives.

Many people know their way to the boards, where most will read what others wrote. Especially topics that deal directly with spirituality and (other) consciousness related matters have the interest of thousands of visitors.

The boards are a place for people to promote their music, too, even when it is not reviewed in the Dubroom.

And that's fine, because another word for Message Board is the Greek word "Forum", which basically means: stage.

HOUSE OF REGGAE CHAPTER 14
DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

WWW, December 2007 - Starting and ending with an Abyssinians track, the 14th episode of the House Of Reggae provides another hour of Ire Reggae Music presented in a relaxed and informative atmosphere.

The show starts off with a little humor. It seems, that some people don't have the time to listen to a whole hour of Reggae Music but still want to check out the House of Reggae.

Can it be done?

In one minute, our host plays a part of the selection he is about to play, which fortunately lasts only one minute. But in that minute, he makes quite a point: you really need to take your time and listen.

Yes, "unfortunately" it's true: you have to take time to actually check out the music and the information that fills every episode of the House if Reggae. "Unfortunately", you cannot enjoy one hour of crucial Reggae music in a minute!

Unfortunately, indeed, some people don't want to take the time to enjoy the music. That wouldn't be the readers of the Dubroom Reviews, though.

They know what to do: Right-Click, Select "Save As..", and...

Enjoy!
