THE GREAT MP3 UPDATE

THE GREAT MP3 UPDATE
DUBROOM IN-SITE 19

WWW, August 2009 - This month marks the start of what is not only a very interesting period when it comes to downloading free and legal High Quality MP3 files, it also marks the end of a feature in the Dubroom MP3 Portal that was there for many years: the Emusic Portal. Read all about a very exciting time ahead!

Bad news for those that used the Dubroom's E-Music Portal: it's gone. Because there are still links to the portal on hundreds of pages, only the front page remains, explaining the reason why it's gone.

First of all, when they started their affiliate program, E-music offered nice things to the people. No More....This became less and less, and in the meantime they changed providers several times, so that every link of the more than 360 albums and the rest had to be changed. Since the Dubroom is a manual site, not an automated one, this is a lot of work.

They didn't inform their affiliates about their last move, about a year or so ago. Everyone had to re-apply to become affiliate and the offers they had were so low, that it was really not worth the trouble to maintain the portal. Even though the links still worked, nothing came out of it no more and it was only a matter of time before they would all go dead.

Too bad, as it was a pleasure to set up and maintain the portal for all these years.

Anyway, one door closed but two doors opened: the EZ TRACKS Portal and our brand new series of Dubroom Online MP3 Reviews.

To the Dubroom EZ Tracks PortalEZTRACKS.com is a website which offers their visitors 1000 free downloads. The registration and download process is a bit complicated and even irritating at times, but there are about 72 crucial Reggae tunes to be discovered so you might like to check it out as we've made it possible to listen to each and every one of these tracks before jumping into the registration and download process.

To the Dubroom Online MP3 ReviewsThe Dubroom Online MP3 Reviews is a brand new series, wherein a review of a free and legal MP3 file is offered on a daily basis for several months to come. We're talking about artists like Mikey Dread, Jah Stitch, Sugar Minott, Luciano, and quite a whole flood more. We're talking 100's of tracks, which can be downloaded straight from download pages right here on the Dubroom. Everything free and legal, with compliments and respect from the various labels that want to introduce their releases to you in a more than friendly and positive way.

To the Dubroom Artist PagesIn the same time, we've made a start in creating Dubroom Artist Pages, from where everyone can easily find just what the Dubroom has on the artist of your choice. These pages are integrated with the other section of the Dubroom Reviews, like the Video and MP3 reviews. We've also added extra features to the Dubroom Artist Pages such as Wikipedia entries. All in all, these pages -when they're finished, which will not likely to be in this year- will hopefully a welcome addition to the Dubroom.

This-and-that means, that in the coming months, together with all the nice additions, the especially the Dubroom MP3 Portal is going to look quite different when it comes to content. Pages with dead links will either be updated or removed, many more pages will come with some really interesting material!

Dubroom Online, Edition August 17 2009

"DUBROOM ONLINE MP3 REVIEWS" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, August 17 2009 - Today's edition of Dubroom Online has, like yesterday, more items than usual.

Not only do we have another EZ Track MP3 and a new Dubroom Artist Page, there's also a new episode of Dubroom Insite, in which you can read all about the new Dubroom Artist Pages.

On top of that, you might like to read a recently published CRC Report with a rather provocative title about the demise of the Evangelical Broadcasting Foundation in the Netherlands.

Or, as Babylon keeps falling, you might be interested to know that the Dubroom recently acquired access to a large free and legal MP3 collection which will, Jah Willing, provide the visitors/readers of the Dubroom with a very interesting MP3 file every day for a long time to come.

And no, we're not speaking about the EZ Tracks Portal here. Stay tuned for more information tomorrow!

WWW, August 2009 - First of all: this section of the Dubroom is under heavy construction and will unlikely be ready before the end of the year. But when it's finished, it will be a very interesting place to browse as you can find stuff on the hundreds of artists reviewed on this site.

The Dubroom has been reviewing music almost since the foundation of this site in 1997. It started with some humble descriptions of albums, then came the MP3 format, only to be followed by Video.

Currently (August 2009), the Dubroom has several sections. There's a place to read album reviews, you go to another part of the site to check out video's, and then you surf to the MP3 section to download some free and legal sounds.

You can browse through each section, but until now one needed to use the search engine to discover just what the Dubroom has reviewed from a specific artist. Even though the site makes use of the Google Search engines, the need for a section where it is possible to find out what the Dubroom reviewed from which artist became more and more obvious.

However, the Dubroom Artist Pages are more than a collection of the Dubroom reviews sorted by artist rather than format. In fact, each artist can potentially have a complete mini-website and it starts with the web address (URL). Messian Dread's artist page, for example, is located at the address http://artists.dubroom.org/messian_dread.

When you enter an artist's page, you'll see something like an introduction. Messian Dread's Artist Page That could be a bio, a (short) Dubroom review of the artist, a Wikipedia entry or something else. You will also see at least one "similar artist".

A small menu will give you the choice to discover the reviews or the "MORE" option. If an option is unavailable, you can't click on it.

"MORE" is nothing less than what it means. When you press it, you'll see "links and things" which could be anything from a short review of and link to an artist's (official) website to an interview or (collection of) article(s).

It's also possible to browse the artist's by alphabet. A couple of little icons next to the artist's name gives you a quick look at what's available:

Obviously, much of the material reviewed on Dubroom is not hosted by the website. We only report on the free and legal online (DUB) Reggae possibilities, and therefore it's important to look at the date of the reviews. Things might have been taken offline and even though maintenance is performed, we can only guarantee the availability of the review itself. In that case, the review remains relevant for historical reasons.

As the Dubroom Artist Pages are expanded with new arrivals, existing pages edited and updated, we hope that this section will not only be a welcome addition to the Dubroom, but to the whole online (DUB) Reggae Community as well!

DARWIN, GAYS AND MONEY
A DUTCH EVANGELICAL BROADCASTER'S IDENTITY CRISIS
A CRC REPORT

Click To Read On CRC Website

WWW, August 2009 - The salary of a top presenter was kind of high, while he publicly signed a statement wherein he announced how he believed in the theories of Darwin. Another presenter poses in a magazine for homo's and a third one wanted to join the annual "Gay Pride" parade in Amsterdam.

How the Dutch Evangelical Broadcasting Foundation (EO) alienates it's members, while screaming for acceptance by just about everyone else.

In the Netherlands, there is a unique public broadcasting system. Everyone can start their own broadcast foundation, and when there are enough members, you get time and money on the TV and on the radio. And so, there are programs for just about everybody, including the different religious and political groups.

Before the second world war, there were basically two broadcast foundations based on what is generally known as "Christianity": the Protestants had their NCRV and the Catholics would join the KRO.

After the 1960's, many Christians would not feel at home anymore with the NCRV or the KRO. A new foundation was on the way: the Evangelical Broadcast Foundation, or "Evangelische Omroep" (EO) in Dutch.

Until a few years ago, the EO would be the voice of what is generally called "orthodox" Christianity. Not the Orthodox Church necessarily, but let's say, the Christianity of the "Bible Believing Christians". They would become members of the EO and over the decades made it the biggest broadcasting foundation within the Dutch public broadcasting system.

The fact that the EO became the biggest, also meant that they would have to make a lot of compromise. They would no longer be able to focus on why they were founded in the first place. Instead, they would simply take their place in the church-and-state system of which the broadcasting system is only a part.

In the meantime, two political "Christian" parties had fused into the "Christen-Unie" (Christian Union). People who would be members of these parties, or vote for them, would most likely to be a member of the EO too. A few years ago, the Christian Union joined a coalition with the Labour Party and the Christian Democrats (MORE).

While many would think that all of this was a sign that "God" is worshipped a lot within the Netherlands, others would see it as a sign of the fact that "Christianity" itself was corrupted.

This corruption can be seen in the many scandals that surrounded the EO the last years, resulting -for now- in a show that has been cancelled even before the first episode was aired. It was a show wherein a non-Christian comedian was asked to make jokes about Jesus. (MORE and MORE)

Arie BoomsmaIdea for the show came from Arie Boomsma (pictured left). The ex-model is one of the poster boys for the EO.

Recently, the EO suspended him for several weeks because he had appeared in a glossy magazine called l'Homo. A photo session in a magazine especially for homosexuals, it was a bridge too far...

Arie Boomsma recently declared himself a Darwinist. The presenter, known from programs like "40 Days Without Sex" wherein young people are challenged to not fornicate for 40 days. It's a program that's no bridge too far for the leadership of the EO, who has been aware of the fact that the last four years they had already lost 10's of thousands of their members due to programs like Arie Boomsma's 40 Days.

Andries KnevelAnother interesting person within the spectrum of superstars and poster boys of the EO is Andries Knevel (pictured right).

He has been with the EO for decades and had evolved from being a pedantic defender of "creationism" into a pedantic talk show host whose "Christianity" was more a stream within the system of Church-And-State than a personal believe in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

Recently, he publicly signed a declaration in which he announced how he did no longer believe in "Creationism" (the idea that God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, about 6000 years ago (MORE) and was now a Darwinist. Later, he had to publicly apologize for sharing his personal disbeliefs .

After all, there were already a lot of protests against the enormous salary Andries Knevel took. He was forced to announce how he would have his own salary cut significantly. It's part of a bigger debate where the enormous salaries of presenters and figureheads of the public broadcasting system are being questioned on a massive scale.

Manuel VenderbosThen there is the strange case of Manuel Venderbos (pictured left). Like Arie Boomsma, a poster boy for the EO.

In his urge to gain acceptance in the homosexual community in the Netherlands, he had said in interviews how he thought that Jesus Christ would party along in the annual "Gay Pride Parade" that takes place in Amsterdam.

This parade is being condemned as a public exposition of pornography, not only by religious people. Many homosexuals speak out against such a display because there is no need for a public exposure of sexuality in a way that is considered pornographic by the vast majority of people in the Netherlands.

The tradition is that there is a long line of boats, sailing through the city. The Dutch minister of culture and the mayor of Amsterdam are on the boat for politicians, and there's a "holy boat" with people who present themselves as homosexual Christians.

Manuel Venderbos was invited join the "holy boat" in the "Gay Pride Parade". Again, a bridge too far for the leadership within the EO. They banned him from joining the parade, claiming that the EO had "different ways to generate debate about homosexuality within the Christian community" (MORE).

And now, there is the show "Man Walks On Water...".

Or, to be more accurate: there was the show "Man Walks On Water..."

You can also say: there won't be a show "Man Walks On Water..."

Just two weeks prior to the press conference in which the EO announced they were -after all- not going to broadcast the show and for which EO director Arjan Lock had to return from his holiday, Lock had written in EO's magazine how he expected the try-out's for the show to bring in money. (DUTCH SOURCE ARTICLE)

The idea was to have a non-Christian comedian make jokes about Jesus Christ, in an effort to "engage in a dialogue with non-Christians", or something to that effect. One trial episode would have been shown and when the response would be good, Arie Boomsma could make a whole series.

An idea which caused yet another exodus of members (some papers speak about 2000) and EO director Arjen Lock returning from holiday to pull the plug publicly.

Did it dawn to the people at the EO that with a title like that, it is obvious how one will make jokes about Jesus Christ rather than the hypocritical system called "Christianity", which is nothing but one of the main religions in a world-wide Church-and-State system we know as Babylon?

Hardly.

If that would dawn, the plug would have been pulled completely, which is not very likely to happen anytime soon.

After all, the Netherlands is ruled by crypto-theocrats. Call them the political wing of the EO. You can find them in the Christian Union party as well as within the party of the Christian Democrats, who together form the majority in the current administration (MORE).

But that's another story.

FROM THE RECOVERY ROOM

Dubroom Online, Edition July 19 2009

"FROM THE RECOVERY ROOM" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, July 19 2009 - I know, I know, it's about a week later than the point in which I was supposed to update the Dubroom. A week wherein I was confronted with that saying of that well-known actor Woody Allen: "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him about your plans".

In an update I wrote for all those interested in the runnings, I share some crucial lessons I have learned recently. A very, very intense period in my life has ended and I am now adjusting to a rather new situation.

Recovering strength, I am not yet able to actually sit down and start doing the works that I love so much: reviewing and producing music, writing and reading articles et cetera.

I do hope, however, to be back on track very soon.

MAKING JAH LAUGH... (MESSIAN DREAD SPIRITUAL UPDATE, JULY 19 2009)

MAKING JAH LAUGH...

MAKING JAH LAUGH...
MESSIAN DREAD PERSONAL UPDATE JULY 19, 2009

WWW, July 2009 - After having been unable to update the site for a week or so, I finally found the opportunity to write a personal update in which I hope to be able to share something about the things I went through these last times, as well as my current status.

This is not easy: how to share some private things without touching the privacy of others around me, and myself? I have to do it, though. For when private matters have such an influence that I am unable to update the Dubroom as I hope to do, I feel I have to share some things still.

I'm usually quite reluctant in sharing things about my private life, especially when this involves other people around me. Loved ones, friends, family, where none of them have anything to do with the Dubroom persay. A few instances wherein loved ones around me were personally harassed, threatened and insulted because my online works made me come to that decision.

Usually, I manage to separate my private life and that of the loved ones around me from the works I do in and on the Dubroom. By working ahead, sometimes even a month, I managed to balance between traveling to and from a different continent several times, where I was unable to update the website because of other obligations.

I've been in this situation for a long time. When I was here, in the Netherlands, I worked hard to get the Dubroom ready for the times I would be abroad. The rest of my time was completely livicated to a personal and private matter, in which I've had a lot of intense and learning experiences.

Woody Allen once said: "If you wanna make God laugh, tell Him about your plans". I definitely had other plans than Jah, for flying airplanes and facing all these absurd security and immigration issues isn't really one of my hobbies. I thought I would be spending a few years building up a studio right here, but instead I would have an experience that I will never forget.

That particular experience has recently, very recently I might add, come to an end. Fortunately, I will no longer have to take the plane and I can, Jah willing, start to build further here, locally, in the Dubroom.

Things have been hectic like never before, especially the last few weeks. Things which I had expected to happen in the beginning of May, suddenly all came down around the middle of July. Important meetings, unforeseeable complications, I could hardly face the things I had to face.

All of this resulted in the fact that I was simply unable to even leave a message on the Dubroom saying something like I am saying in this update. I would wake up, start to deal with the situations about 20 minutes after, and I would be dealing, worrying and praying for the rest of the day, until I would go to sleep.

This stress has really taken it's toll now that once again I have seen how Jah is in control. I see Him controlling everything. I see Him working on me to make me realize I should fear Him, that I am depending on Him, and also: that He wants to use me.

I was very much unsure, as on one hand I feared Jah and hoped that the things I did were His will, where on the other hand I knew I needed to trust Jah too. I discovered to a much deeper level, where that fear and trust would actually meet in the spiritual spectrum of things: it is within His will.

I made a lot of plans, and I made Jah laugh about them all the time. I see that in retrospect. I see, how He is in control and does things His own way. It's not about me doing a thing for Jah at all, and so I realized I had to let go the idea that I could plan anything that can be considered the Will of Jah.

These last times, I faced what seemed to be unovercomeable problems and obstacles many times. Every time I thought I found a way out, that door was closed. And indeed: every time, another door opened. Supernaturally, even.

It was not, that I did not believe that Jah can and will interfere directly and obviously for those with eyes to see. I mean, just take a look at the universe: would the Creator be unable to fulfill His will? That in itself is so ridiculous that I don't even wanna go further commenting to that idea.

It was this: I was very much afraid, that I was not doing Jah will at all! As people encouraged me to trust Jah, I said to myself: "How can I trust Jah to do what I prayed for when I'm not sure if it is what He wants in the first place?"

Jah showed me, however, to step out of myself as it were. He showed me, that in all the things I was involved in, I was actually not doing my own things at all! Sure, I made plans and all that, but most of them turned out to be kind of absurd when I see in retrospect just how the problems I faced were actually solved. No, He gradually showed me how He was using me in a thing that was much bigger, a thing that has to do with His will.

More and more, I realized how I was more of a witness than an actual participant with own initiatives. I went through the belly of the beast several times, just to hear how that beast could do nothing but bark. In the valley of shadows, I feared evil no more as I saw how Jah was with me showing me more of His enormous power.

Jah doesn't give any (wo)man more than (s)he can bear. I can testify this to the max. Just a week ago, I was at end of my ability to absorb anything. I had kind of lost most of my energy, even to the extend that eating and drinking became too difficult!

I had one thing left, which was: trust. Trusting in Jah. Trusting, that He would simply do His will in front of my eyes where me I could do nothing but realizing my own inabilities. I feared Jah because I knew that my will is irrelevant when it comes to Jah's will, but I learned that I had to trust in the fact that indeed, Jah Will Be Done.

Now that I saw just a little bit about how His will is done, I'm moving forward from the valley of shadows to the green pastures where I am being made to lay down as He comforts my soul and gives me strength.

I just found the strength to write this update. Yes, that's how bad it was. And yes, that's how Good Jah is! He taught me some crucial lessons and now He makes me to lay down for a while so I can meditate over everything that has happened.

I know, that I need some time to recover physically. I hope, that I can be able to do some things somewhere within the next two weeks. In the meantime, I hope you'll stay with me as I try to answer correspondence, work on some interesting material, et cetera.

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread

SUMMER SIMMER

image

Dubroom Online, Edition July 2 - 10 2009

"SUMMER SIMMER" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, July 2 2009 - To make an edition of Dubroom Online, it takes about 6 hours on average. That's excluding all the site maintenance, communications, long-term projects et cetera.

So, yes, it takes more than an average work day for the Dubroom to keep everything running.

Since I've got a lot of things to do in the Outernet currently, I wish I would have these six hours to sit down and produce the columns and items, but I simply don't have them right now and the worst is that I do not really know when that time will be available in the future.

Am I talking about the end of the Dubroom?

No way.

But I am talking about an uncertain time when it comes to me being able to update the Dubroom daily. A period which could well take up over a month.
